Rooftop Terrace Design · Abu Dhabi
From Saadiyat to Nurai Island
Berlin-based manufactory delivering rooftop terrace concepts to Abu Dhabi's most discerning villas, penthouses and island estates, with plant design, outdoor kitchens and wellness architecture under one curatorial hand.

Why Abu Dhabi is different
Gulf heat, island geography, and the discipline of shade
Abu Dhabi rooftops sit on a chain of islands in the Persian Gulf. Summer temperatures above 45°C and high humidity push every material and plant to its envelope. Salt spray reaches every coastal site; dust events from shamal winds add their own pressure. Cultural rhythm – the majlis, the water feature, the protected courtyard – is the foundation of outdoor living here, not an add-on.
We work with this discipline daily: with Emirati architects who handle DMT approvals, with irrigation specialists who design for Gulf water reality, and with the lifestyle expectations of villa owners on Saadiyat, Al Reem and Nurai. Our role is the plant and outdoor lifestyle layer – ecological substrate, drought-adapted curation, and the wellness elements (pool deck, majlis, outdoor kitchen) that turn an Abu Dhabi rooftop into a year-round sanctuary.

Our Abu Dhabi approach
Curated plants, ecological substrate, lifestyle integration
- Symbiosis methodology – mycorrhizal partnerships dramatically reduce water demand and replace chemical fertilisation in the Gulf climate.
- Drought-adapted palette – native and Mediterranean accents (olive, date palm, frangipani, bougainvillea), drought-tolerant structure (Ficus nitida, Conocarpus, succulents) and shade-tolerant interior layers.
- Wellness architecture – pool deck, majlis, sauna and outdoor kitchen integration with shade pergolas, water features and microclimate cooling.
- Climate-aware execution – load calculations with structural engineers, DMT approvals where required, irrigation engineered for Emirati water reality.
Areas we serve
Across Abu Dhabi's most exclusive islands
Most of our Abu Dhabi work is concentrated in island villas and waterfront penthouses. We also handle select hospitality projects.
How an Abu Dhabi project unfolds
From first conversation to handover
- 01
Understanding before drawing
Site visit (or detailed remote survey for first conversations from Berlin), discussion of the people and rhythm using the rooftop, early constraint mapping (heat, sun path, salt exposure, water).
- 02
Concept and curation
A small set of plant compositions, shade-architecture moodboards, wellness element placement. Always optionality.
- 03
Engineering and approvals
Load calculations with structural engineer, irrigation design, DMT approvals where required, coordination with the building's architect and interior designer.
- 04
Installation and handover
Our team installs on site over one to several weeks. Plants are sourced from regional Gulf nurseries and pre-conditioned for the Emirati climate. After handover we offer ongoing care subscriptions following the same symbiosis methodology.
Frequently asked
What clients usually want to know first
- Do you work on rooftop terrace projects in Abu Dhabi?
- Yes. Most of our Abu Dhabi work is Saadiyat Island villas, Al Reem Island penthouses, Al Bateen residences and waterfront estates on Yas Island and Nurai Island.
- How do you handle the Gulf climate?
- With shade architecture, drought-adapted plant material, mycorrhizal soil partnerships that reduce water demand, and irrigation engineered for Emirati conditions.
- How long does a typical Abu Dhabi project take?
- Between four and ten months from first conversation to handover. Larger Saadiyat Island and Nurai Island villas with wellness architecture often need six to twelve months of planning.
