Rooftop Terrace Design · Budapest
From Rózsadomb to Várnegyed
Berlin-based manufactory delivering rooftop terrace concepts to Budapest's most discerning Buda hillside villas and Pest heritage palaces, with plant design, outdoor kitchens and snow-rated wellness architecture under one curatorial hand.

Why Budapest is different
Pannonian light, UNESCO Banks of the Danube, and the Andrássy út tradition
Budapest is one of the most architecturally complete European capitals – the Banks of the Danube, the Buda Castle Quarter and Andrássy út are UNESCO-protected as a single property. Rózsadomb forms the historic HNWI hillside; Gellérthegy adds the panoramic ridge; Pasarét and Adyliget represent the Buda hillside expansion; Andrássy út and Lipótváros anchor the Pest heritage palace tradition. Climate is humid continental Pannonian – hot dry summers, cold snowy winters.
We work in this tension daily: with MÉK-registered architects and structural engineers, with Budapest Főváros Önkormányzata and Forster Központ consultants, and with the lifestyle expectations of Budapest clients between Rózsadomb villas, Várnegyed heritage residences, Gellérthegy panoramic estates, Pasarét and Adyliget Buda hills, Andrássy út and Lipótváros heritage palaces, plus Budakeszi and Hűvösvölgy suburban estates. Our role is the plant and outdoor lifestyle layer – ecological substrate, Pannonian continental curation, and the wellness elements (sunset terrace, outdoor kitchen, sauna pavilion) that turn a Budapest rooftop into a year-round sanctuary.

Our Budapest approach
Curated plants, ecological substrate, lifestyle integration
- Symbiosis methodology – mycorrhizal partnerships, effective microorganisms and humus building replace chemical fertilisation under Pannonian summer and winter stress.
- Pannonian continental palette – structural specimens (oak, beech, hornbeam, magnolia, linden), Pannonian evergreens (boxwood, holly, yew, juniper), flowering accents (hydrangea, peony, rose, jasmine, lilac), Mediterranean accents, Hungarian manor-garden plants.
- Wellness architecture – sunset terrace, outdoor kitchen, sauna pavilion and pergola integration with Danube or Buda-hill framing.
- UNESCO-aware execution – MÉK architects and structural engineers, Budapest Főváros permitting, Forster Központ heritage consent, UNESCO Danube and Várnegyed review.

How a Budapest project unfolds
From first conversation to handover
- 01
Understanding before drawing
Site visit (or detailed remote survey for first conversations from Berlin), discussion of the people and rhythm using the terrace, early constraint mapping (Önkormányzata, Forster, UNESCO, snow load).
- 02
Concept and curation
A small set of plant compositions, material moodboards, wellness element placement. Always optionality.
- 03
Engineering and approvals
Load calculations with Hungarian-licensed structural engineer, Budapest Főváros Önkormányzata permitting, Forster Központ heritage consent.
- 04
Installation and handover
Our team installs on site over one to several weeks. Plants are sourced from Pannonian nurseries and pre-conditioned for the Budapest climate. After handover we offer ongoing care subscriptions following the same symbiosis methodology.
Frequently asked
What clients usually want to know first
- Do you work on rooftop terrace projects in Budapest?
- Yes. Most of our Budapest work is Rózsadomb, Várnegyed, Gellérthegy, Pasarét, Andrássy út and Lipótváros.
- How do you handle UNESCO Banks of the Danube review?
- Through experienced MÉK-registered architects and Forster Központ heritage consultants. UNESCO sight-line interventions require careful early engagement.
- How long does a typical Budapest project take?
- Between four and twelve months from first conversation to handover. Larger Rózsadomb or Várnegyed heritage estates often need eight to fourteen months of planning.

The first call is unhurried – understanding before any concept. We travel from Berlin for site visits when the project warrants it.
