Why Buenos Aires is different

Belle Époque heritage, jacaranda streets, and the Argentine pampas

Buenos Aires rooftops sit above one of the most French-influenced cityscapes in the Americas. Belle Époque Recoleta carries strict Comisión Nacional de Monumentos heritage consent; Palermo Chico and Barrio Parque add their own urban discipline. Climate is humid subtropical with hot humid summers, mild winters, intense thunderstorms and occasional pampero wind events from the Argentine plains.

We work in this tension daily: with CPAU-registered Argentine architects and structural engineers, with CABA permitting and Comisión Nacional de Monumentos consultants, and with the lifestyle expectations of Buenos Aires clients between Recoleta heritage penthouses, Palermo Chico townhouses and Northern-suburb estates in San Isidro and Nordelta. Our role is the plant and outdoor lifestyle layer – ecological substrate, French-Belle-Époque-anchored curation, and the wellness elements (pool deck, outdoor kitchen, asado terrace, spa) that turn a Buenos Aires rooftop into a year-round sanctuary.

Our Buenos Aires approach

Curated plants, ecological substrate, lifestyle integration

  • Symbiosis methodology – mycorrhizal partnerships, effective microorganisms and humus building replace chemical fertilisation under the humid summer regime.
  • Belle-Époque-Argentine palette – evergreen structure (citrus, magnolia, ombú, jacarandá, plane), aromatic accents (lavender, rosemary, sage, jasmine), seasonal layers (jacarandá and palo borracho blossom, wisteria, hydrangea).
  • Wellness architecture – pool deck, asado terrace, spa and outdoor kitchen integration with Belle Époque vocabulary.
  • Heritage-aware execution – CPAU-registered Argentine architects and structural engineers, CABA permitting, Comisión Nacional de Monumentos consultation where required.

How a Buenos Aires project unfolds

From first conversation to handover

  1. 01

    Understanding before drawing

Site visit (or detailed remote survey for first conversations from Berlin), discussion of the people and rhythm using the terrace, early constraint mapping (thunderstorms, heritage, structure).

  2. 02

    Concept and curation

A small set of plant compositions, material moodboards, wellness element placement. Always optionality.

  3. 03

    Engineering and permitting

Load calculations with structural engineer, CPAU-registered architectural sign-off, CABA permitting, Comisión Nacional de Monumentos consultation where required.

  4. 04

    Installation and handover

Our team installs on site over one to several weeks. Plants are sourced from Argentine nurseries and pre-conditioned for the pampas climate. After handover we offer ongoing care subscriptions following the same symbiosis methodology.

Frequently asked

What clients usually want to know first

Do you work on rooftop terrace projects in Buenos Aires?
Yes. Most of our Buenos Aires work is Recoleta French-style penthouses, Palermo Chico and Barrio Parque townhouse roof gardens, Puerto Madero high-rise residences and Northern-suburb estates in San Isidro, Nordelta and Pilar.
How do you handle Comisión Nacional de Monumentos consent?
With early heritage consultation in Recoleta and similar protected zones, CPAU-registered architectural sign-off, and material specification that respects the Belle Époque silhouette.
How long does a typical Buenos Aires project take?
Between four and ten months from first conversation to handover. Larger heritage residences or Nordelta estates often need six to twelve months of planning.
