Why Dallas is different

Texas heat, severe spring storms, and the rhythm of Park Cities

Dallas-Fort Worth is one of the largest US Sun Belt metropolitan markets and one of the most concentrated corporate-headquarters geographies in the world. Highland Park, University Park, Preston Hollow and Volk Estates set the lifestyle baseline; Westover Hills serves as Fort Worth's equivalent. Climate is humid subtropical transitioning toward semi-arid – hot dry-to-humid summers, mild winters, intense UV, severe spring thunderstorms with hail and possible tornado activity.

We work in this tension daily: with Texas-licensed architects and structural engineers, with Park Cities and City of Dallas permitting consultants, and with the lifestyle expectations of Dallas clients between Highland Park, University Park, Preston Hollow, Bluffview, Volk Estates and Uptown penthouses, plus Fort Worth Westover Hills estates. Our role is the plant and outdoor lifestyle layer – ecological substrate, North Texas curation, and the wellness elements (sunset terrace, outdoor kitchen, pool deck, shaded pergola) that turn a Dallas rooftop into a year-round sanctuary.

Our Dallas approach

Curated plants, ecological substrate, lifestyle integration

  • Symbiosis methodology – mycorrhizal partnerships, effective microorganisms and humus building replace chemical fertilisation under Texas heat and severe-storm stress.
  • North Texas palette – structural specimens (live oak, cedar elm, Texas redbud, crape myrtle, sabal palm), heat- and drought-tolerant evergreens (yaupon holly, Texas sage, agarita), flowering accents (Texas lantana, autumn sage, esperanza), drought-tolerant succulents.
  • Wellness architecture – sunset terrace, outdoor kitchen, pool deck and shaded pergola integration with skyline or estate framing.
  • Hail-aware execution – Texas-licensed architects and structural engineers, Park Cities and City of Dallas permitting, hail- and wind-rated planters and anchoring.

How a Dallas project unfolds

From first conversation to handover

  1. 01

    Understanding before drawing

Site visit (or detailed remote survey for first conversations from Berlin), discussion of the people and rhythm using the terrace, early constraint mapping (Park Cities, City of Dallas, severe storms, structure).

  2. 02

    Concept and curation

A small set of plant compositions, material moodboards, wellness element placement. Always optionality.

  3. 03

    Engineering and approvals

Load calculations with Texas-licensed structural engineer, Town of Highland Park / City of University Park / City of Dallas permitting.

  4. 04

    Installation and handover

Our team installs on site over one to several weeks. Plants are sourced from North Texas nurseries and pre-conditioned for the Dallas climate. After handover we offer ongoing care subscriptions following the same symbiosis methodology.
