Why Davos is different

Highest alpine town, dry mountain air, and the rhythm of WEF

Davos rooftops sit at 1560 metres – Europe's highest town – in a high-alpine continental climate famous for its dry mountain air, originally a sanatorium destination for that very reason. Very long cold winters with deep snow load, short brilliant summers, intense high-altitude UV. The annual World Economic Forum sets a rhythm of intense activity in January; the rest of the year balances ski culture with hiking and wellness traditions.

We work in this tension daily: with SIA-registered Swiss architects and structural engineers, with Gemeinde Davos Bauamt consultants, and with the lifestyle expectations of Davos clients between Davos Platz residences, Davos Dorf hillside homes, Klosters villa estates and Wolfgang ridge chalets. Our role is the plant and outdoor lifestyle layer – ecological substrate, ultra-hardy Grisons curation, and the wellness elements (spa, sauna, outdoor kitchen) that turn a Davos chalet roof into a year-round sanctuary.

Our Davos approach

Curated plants, ecological substrate, lifestyle integration

  • Symbiosis methodology – mycorrhizal partnerships, effective microorganisms and humus building replace chemical fertilisation in the alpine soil envelope.
  • Grisons alpine palette – evergreen structure (Swiss stone pine, larch, juniper, mountain pine), Grisons natives (alpine roses, gentian, bilberry, alpine asters, edelweiss-grade perennials), very short-season ornamental layers.
  • Wellness architecture – spa, sauna and outdoor kitchen integration with snow-load engineering and après-ski programming.
  • Swiss-standard execution – SIA-registered architects and structural engineers, Gemeinde Davos Bauamt consent, chalet-style preservation compliance.

Areas we serve

Across Davos, Klosters and the Prättigau

Most of our Davos work is concentrated in chalet rooftops, hillside residences and Klosters villa estates. We also handle select hospitality projects, especially around the WEF season.

How a Davos project unfolds

From first conversation to handover

  1. 01

    Understanding before drawing

Site visit (or detailed remote survey for first conversations from Berlin), discussion of the people and rhythm using the terrace, early constraint mapping (snow load, altitude UV, chalet preservation, structure).

  2. 02

    Concept and curation

A small set of plant compositions, material moodboards, wellness element placement. Always optionality.

  3. 03

    Engineering and consent

Load calculations with SIA-registered structural engineer, Gemeinde Davos Bauamt consent, chalet-style preservation consultation, snow-load engineering.

  4. 04

    Installation and handover

Our team installs on site during the mid-summer window over one to several weeks. Plants are sourced from Swiss alpine nurseries and pre-conditioned for the Davos altitude envelope. After handover we offer ongoing care subscriptions following the same symbiosis methodology.

Frequently asked

What clients usually want to know first

Do you work on rooftop terrace projects in Davos?
Yes. Most of our Davos work is Davos Platz chalet rooftops, Davos Dorf hillside residences, Klosters villa estates and Wolfgang ridge homes.
How do you handle the highest alpine resort climate?
With ultra-hardy Grisons plant material, snow-load engineering for the deepest accumulations in the Alps, frost-proof substrate and materials specified for the high-UV, dry-air envelope.
How long does a typical Davos project take?
Between four and twelve months from first conversation to handover. Larger Klosters villas often need eight to fourteen months because the installation window is constrained to mid-summer.
