Rooftop Terrace Design · Dubai
From Palm Jumeirah to Emirates Hills
Berlin-based manufactory delivering rooftop terrace concepts to Dubai's most discerning villas, penthouses and estates, with plant design, outdoor kitchens and wellness architecture under one curatorial hand.
Why Dubai is different
Desert climate, scarce water, and the discipline of shade
Dubai rooftops sit at the extreme end of environmental challenge. Summer temperatures regularly above 45°C, intense UV, salt spray on coastal villas, dust loading from desert wind, and scarce freshwater that makes every drop count. A European plant palette cannot simply be transplanted – Dubai demands a fundamentally different design logic built around shade architecture and microclimate.
We work with this discipline daily: with Dubai architects who know DM and DDA approvals, with irrigation specialists who design for the UAE's water reality, and with the lifestyle expectations of villa owners on Palm Jumeirah and estate owners in Emirates Hills. Our role is the plant and outdoor lifestyle layer – ecological substrate, drought-adapted curation, and the wellness elements (pool deck, majlis, outdoor kitchen) that turn a Dubai rooftop into a year-round sanctuary.
Our Dubai approach
Curated plants, ecological substrate, lifestyle integration
- Symbiosis methodology – mycorrhizal partnerships dramatically reduce water demand and replace chemical fertilisation. Plants thrive even in desert conditions.
- Drought-adapted palette – native and Mediterranean accents (olive, date palm, frangipani, bougainvillea), drought-tolerant structure (Ficus nitida, Conocarpus, succulents) and shade-tolerant interior layers.
- Wellness architecture – pool deck, majlis, sauna and outdoor kitchen integration with shade pergolas, water features and microclimate cooling.
- Climate-aware execution – load calculations with structural engineers, DM and DDA approvals where required, irrigation engineered for the UAE's water reality.
Areas we serve
Across Dubai's most exclusive communities
Most of our Dubai work is concentrated in waterfront villas, gated estate communities and downtown penthouses. We also handle hospitality projects in central locations.
How a Dubai project unfolds
From first conversation to handover
- 01
Understanding before drawing
Site visit (or detailed remote survey for first conversations from Berlin), discussion of the people and rhythm using the rooftop, early constraint mapping (heat, sun path, salt exposure, water).
- 02
Concept and curation
A small set of plant compositions, shade-architecture moodboards, wellness element placement. Always optionality – never a single take-it-or-leave-it.
- 03
Engineering and approvals
Load calculations with structural engineer, irrigation design, DM/DDA approvals where required, coordination with the building's architect and interior designer.
- 04
Installation and handover
Our team installs on site over one to several weeks, depending on complexity. Plants are sourced from regional nurseries and pre-conditioned for the UAE climate. After handover we offer ongoing care subscriptions following the same symbiosis methodology.
Frequently asked
What clients usually want to know first
- Do you work on rooftop terrace projects in Dubai?
- Yes. Most of our Dubai work is Palm Jumeirah villas, Downtown Dubai penthouses, Emirates Hills estates and Dubai Hills residences. Hospitality projects are handled separately.
- How do you handle the Dubai climate?
- With shade architecture, drought-adapted plant material, mycorrhizal soil partnerships that reduce water demand, and irrigation engineered for UAE conditions.
- How long does a typical Dubai project take?
- Between four and ten months from first conversation to handover. Larger villa and estate projects with wellness architecture often need six to twelve months of planning.
