Rooftop Terrace Design · Düsseldorf
From Oberkassel to Kaiserswerth
Berlin-based manufactory delivering rooftop terrace concepts to Düsseldorf's most discerning Rhine-facing residences and villa rooftops, with plant design, outdoor kitchens and wellness architecture under one curatorial hand.

Why Düsseldorf is different
Rhine climate, design culture, and Rheinblick
Düsseldorf rooftops look across the Rhine in a climate that is milder than continental Germany. Oceanic-influenced winters are forgiving; summers are warm with frequent thunderstorm events. Carlstadt, Oberkassel and Kaiserswerth each carry their own architectural rhythm – from preserved Altbau to white Rhine-front villas – and Denkmalschutz protects key fragments.
We work in this tension daily: with NRW-based Tragwerksplaner and architectural practices, with Denkmalschutz consultants, and with the lifestyle expectations of Düsseldorf clients shaped by fashion, advertising and global industry. Our role is the plant and outdoor lifestyle layer – ecological substrate, hardy curation, and the wellness elements (spa, sauna, outdoor kitchen) that turn a Düsseldorf roof into a year-round sanctuary above the Rhine.

Our Düsseldorf approach
Curated plants, ecological substrate, lifestyle integration
- Symbiosis methodology – mycorrhizal partnerships, effective microorganisms and humus building replace chemical fertilisation.
- Oceanic plant palette – evergreen structure (yew, boxwood, holly, hornbeam), wind-tolerant accents (hydrangea, viburnum, grasses), seasonal layers (Japanese maple, wisteria, climbing roses), Mediterranean accents in protected microclimates.
- Wellness architecture – spa, sauna and outdoor kitchen integration with Rheinblick framing.
- Heritage-aware execution – Tragwerksplaner engineering, Denkmalschutz consultation in heritage zones, Bauantrag submissions where required.
Areas we serve
Across Düsseldorf and the Rhine corridor
Most of our Düsseldorf work is concentrated in Oberkassel penthouses, Kaiserswerth villas and Carlstadt residences. We also handle select hospitality projects.
How a Düsseldorf project unfolds
From first conversation to handover
- 01
Understanding before drawing
Site visit (or detailed remote survey for first conversations from Berlin), discussion of the people and rhythm using the terrace, early constraint mapping (heritage zone, wind exposure, structure, microclimate).
- 02
Concept and curation
A small set of plant compositions, material moodboards, wellness element placement. Always optionality.
- 03
Engineering and consent
Load calculations with Tragwerksplaner, Denkmalschutz consultation in heritage zones, Bauantrag submissions where required, coordination with the building's architect and interior designer.
- 04
Installation and handover
Our team installs on site over one to several weeks. Plants are pre-conditioned in our Berlin nursery. After handover we offer ongoing care subscriptions following the same symbiosis methodology.
Frequently asked
What clients usually want to know first
- Do you work on rooftop terrace projects in Düsseldorf?
- Yes. Most of our Düsseldorf work is Rhine-facing penthouses in Oberkassel and Niederkassel, Carlstadt and Pempelfort residences, and villa rooftops in Kaiserswerth and Meerbusch.
- How do you handle Denkmalschutz?
- With early Denkmalschutz consultation in protected zones, Tragwerksplaner engineering, and material specification that respects the Altbau silhouette.
- How long does a typical Düsseldorf project take?
- Between three and ten months from first conversation to handover. Larger Kaiserswerth or Meerbusch villas with wellness architecture often need six to twelve months of planning.

The first call is unhurried – understanding before any concept. We travel from Berlin for site visits when the project warrants it.
