Why Hannover is different

Lower Saxony light, Leine-valley humidity, and the steady tempo of corporate Hannover

Hannover is one of Germany's most quietly affluent regional capitals – seat of the State of Lower Saxony, host of the world's largest industrial trade fair, and adjacent to Wolfsburg and the Volkswagen corridor. The Zoo and Waldhausen heritage villa belts, Kirchrode and Kleefeld residential zones, and Isernhagen and Bothfeld northern estates set the lifestyle baseline. Climate is temperate oceanic-continental with warm humid summers and cold wet winters.

We work in this tension daily: with Architektenkammer Niedersachsen-registered architects and structural engineers, with Stadt Hannover Bauaufsicht and Denkmalschutzbehörde consultants, and with the lifestyle expectations of Hannover clients between Zoo and Waldhausen heritage villas, Kirchrode and Kleefeld residences, Isernhagen and Bothfeld northern estates, Wettbergen and Bemerode hochwertige properties, and List and Buchholz contemporary penthouses. Our role is the plant and outdoor lifestyle layer – ecological substrate, Lower Saxony temperate curation, and the wellness elements (sunset terrace, outdoor kitchen, pool deck, pergola) that turn a Hannover rooftop into a year-round sanctuary.

Our Hannover approach

Curated plants, ecological substrate, lifestyle integration

  • Symbiosis methodology – mycorrhizal partnerships, effective microorganisms and humus building replace chemical fertilisation under Leine-valley humidity and four-season cycling.
  • Lower Saxony temperate palette – structural specimens (oak, beech, hornbeam, magnolia, juvenile linden), Niedersachsen evergreens (boxwood, holly, yew, ivy), flowering accents (hydrangea, peony, rose, wisteria), Mediterranean accents, Lower Saxony courtyard plants.
  • Wellness architecture – sunset terrace, outdoor kitchen, pool deck and pergola integration with park, Leine or city framing.
  • Snow-load-aware execution – Architektenkammer Niedersachsen architects and structural engineers, Stadt Hannover Bauaufsicht permitting, Untere Denkmalschutzbehörde heritage consent, snow-load-rated detailing.

How a Hannover project unfolds

From first conversation to handover

  1. 01

    Understanding before drawing

Site visit (or detailed remote survey for first conversations from Berlin), discussion of the people and rhythm using the terrace, early constraint mapping (Stadt Hannover, Denkmalschutzbehörde, structure, snow load).

  2. 02

    Concept and curation

A small set of plant compositions, material moodboards, wellness element placement. Always optionality.

  3. 03

    Engineering and approvals

Load calculations with Niedersachsen-registered structural engineer, Stadt Hannover Bauaufsicht permitting, Untere Denkmalschutzbehörde heritage consent.

  4. 04

    Installation and handover

Our team installs on site over one to several weeks. Plants are sourced from Niedersachsen nurseries and pre-conditioned for the Hannover climate. After handover we offer ongoing care subscriptions following the same symbiosis methodology.

Frequently asked

What clients usually want to know first

Do you work on rooftop terrace projects in Hannover?
Yes. Most of our Hannover work is Zoo, Waldhausen, Kirchrode, Isernhagen, Bothfeld, Kleefeld, Wettbergen and Bemerode.
How do you handle four-season variation?
With cold-hardy Lower Saxony plant material, snow-load-rated planters, anchored irrigation systems, and seasonal-rhythm plant scheduling.
How long does a typical Hannover project take?
Between four and twelve months from first conversation to handover. Larger Zoo or Waldhausen heritage estates often need eight to fourteen months of planning.
