Rooftop Terrace Design · Houston
From River Oaks to Piney Point
Berlin-based manufactory delivering rooftop terrace concepts to Houston's most discerning Memorial Villages estates and Museum District penthouses, with plant design, outdoor kitchens and hurricane-rated wellness architecture under one curatorial hand.

Why Houston is different
Gulf humidity, hurricane stress, and the slow tempo of the Memorial estate
Houston is the largest energy-corporate city in the world and one of the most lifestyle-rich US Sun Belt rooftop markets. The Memorial Villages, River Oaks deed-restriction tradition and oil-and-gas family-office culture set the lifestyle baseline. Climate is humid subtropical with hot wet summers, mild winters, intense UV, hurricane season June–November and Gulf-driven thunderstorms.
We work in this tension daily: with Texas-licensed architects and structural engineers, with City of Houston permitting and deed-restriction consultants, and with the lifestyle expectations of Houston clients between River Oaks estates, Memorial Villages residences (Piney Point, Hunters Creek, Bunker Hill, Hedwig), Tanglewood, West University, Boulevard Oaks and Museum District penthouses. Our role is the plant and outdoor lifestyle layer – ecological substrate, Gulf Coast curation, and the wellness elements (sunset terrace, outdoor kitchen, pool deck, shaded pergola) that turn a Houston rooftop into a year-round sanctuary.

Our Houston approach
Curated plants, ecological substrate, lifestyle integration
- Symbiosis methodology – mycorrhizal partnerships, effective microorganisms and humus building replace chemical fertilisation under Gulf humidity and hurricane stress.
- Gulf Coast subtropical palette – structural specimens (live oak, magnolia, sabal palm, crape myrtle), subtropical evergreens (gardenia, ligustrum, holly, jasmine), flowering accents (bougainvillea, hibiscus, lantana, plumeria), heat-tolerant succulents.
- Wellness architecture – sunset terrace, outdoor kitchen, pool deck and shaded pergola integration with skyline or bayou framing.
- Hurricane-aware execution – Texas-licensed architects and structural engineers, City of Houston permitting, deed-restriction review for River Oaks/Memorial Villages, hurricane-rated planters and anchoring.

How a Houston project unfolds
From first conversation to handover
- 01
Understanding before drawing
Site visit (or detailed remote survey for first conversations from Berlin), discussion of the people and rhythm using the terrace, early constraint mapping (City of Houston, deed restrictions, hurricane, structure).
- 02
Concept and curation
A small set of plant compositions, material moodboards, wellness element placement. Always optionality.
- 03
Engineering and approvals
Load calculations with Texas-licensed structural engineer, City of Houston permitting, deed-restriction review for River Oaks/Memorial Villages.
- 04
Installation and handover
Our team installs on site over one to several weeks, ideally outside hurricane season. Plants are sourced from Gulf Coast nurseries and pre-conditioned for the Houston climate. After handover we offer ongoing care subscriptions following the same symbiosis methodology.
