Rooftop Terrace Design · Jakarta
From Menteng to Pondok Indah
Berlin-based manufactory delivering rooftop terrace concepts to Jakarta's most discerning Menteng heritage villas and Pondok Indah gated estates, with plant design, outdoor kitchens and monsoon-rated wellness architecture under one curatorial hand.

Why Jakarta is different
Indonesian capital, monsoon flooding, and the Menteng heritage tradition
Jakarta is the largest Southeast Asian metropolitan area and the seat of Indonesian conglomerate-family wealth. Menteng (Dutch colonial-era heritage neighborhood) anchors the historic HNWI villa belt; Pondok Indah and Pondok Indah Bukit Golf form the gated-community estate market; Kemang preserves the creative-quarter residential tradition; Kuningan and SCBD anchor the contemporary penthouse market; Pluit adds the coastal villa belt; Permata Hijau and Senayan extend the central residential lifestyle. Climate is tropical monsoon with severe seasonal flooding and significant urban air-quality challenges.
We work in this tension daily: with IAI-registered architects and structural engineers, with DKI Jakarta and Dinas Cipta Karya consultants, and with the lifestyle expectations of Jakarta clients between Menteng heritage villas, Pondok Indah and Pondok Indah Bukit Golf gated estates, Kemang creative-quarter residences, Kuningan and SCBD penthouses, Pluit coastal villas, Permata Hijau and Senayan central rooftops. Our role is the plant and outdoor lifestyle layer – ecological substrate, Sundanese-Indonesian curation, and the wellness elements (sunset terrace, outdoor kitchen, pool deck, shaded pavilion) that turn a Jakarta rooftop into a year-round sanctuary.

Our Jakarta approach
Curated plants, ecological substrate, lifestyle integration
- Symbiosis methodology – mycorrhizal partnerships, effective microorganisms and humus building replace chemical fertilisation under tropical monsoon and urban air-quality stress.
- Sundanese-Indonesian palette – structural specimens (frangipani/kemboja, coconut palm, mahogany, kenari, sapodilla), Sundanese evergreens (Plumeria, Hibiscus, Ixora, Allamanda, Bougainvillea), flowering accents (Indonesian orchids, anthurium, heliconia), air-purifying succulents.
- Wellness architecture – sunset terrace, outdoor kitchen, pool deck and shaded pavilion integration with skyline or kampung framing.
- Monsoon- and seismic-aware execution – IAI-registered architects and structural engineers, DKI Jakarta + Dinas Cipta Karya permitting, gated-community ARB review, monsoon-rated drainage, air-quality plant selection.

How a Jakarta project unfolds
From first conversation to handover
- 01
Understanding before drawing
Site visit (or detailed remote survey for first conversations from Berlin), discussion of the people and rhythm using the terrace, early constraint mapping (DKI Jakarta, Dinas Cipta Karya, monsoon flooding, structure, air quality).
- 02
Concept and curation
A small set of plant compositions, material moodboards, wellness element placement. Always optionality.
- 03
Engineering and approvals
Load calculations with Indonesian-licensed structural engineer, DKI Jakarta + Dinas Cipta Karya permitting, gated-community ARB review.
- 04
Installation and handover
Our team installs on site over one to several weeks. Plants are sourced from Indonesian and Southeast Asian nurseries and pre-conditioned for the Jakarta climate. After handover we offer ongoing care subscriptions following the same symbiosis methodology.
Frequently asked
What clients usually want to know first

- Yes. Most of our Jakarta work is Menteng, Pondok Indah, Kemang, Kuningan, SCBD, Pluit, Permata Hijau and Senayan.
- How do you handle monsoon flooding and air quality?
- With monsoon-rated drainage, air-purifying plant selections (Sansevieria, peace lily), elevated planters, and seasonal-rhythm care scheduled outside the December–March monsoon peak.
- How long does a typical Jakarta project take?
- Between five and fourteen months from first conversation to handover. Larger Pondok Indah or Menteng heritage estates often need eight to fourteen months.

The first call is unhurried – understanding before any concept. We travel from Berlin for site visits when the project warrants it.
