Rooftop Terrace Design · Manama
From Saar to Durrat Al Bahrain
Berlin-based manufactory delivering rooftop terrace concepts to Bahrain's most discerning villa estates and waterfront residences, with plant design, outdoor kitchens, majlis terraces and wellness architecture under one curatorial hand.

Why Manama is different
Arabian heat, majlis culture, and the rhythm of the Gulf
Bahrain holds a unique position in the Gulf as the oldest civilisation crossroads – Dilmun, Tylos and Muharraq UNESCO heritage layered against contemporary Manama financial centre and Amwaj Islands new-build waterfront. Climate is extreme arid Arabian with peak summer above 45°C, intense UV, shamal wind events, saline groundwater and high coastal humidity. The Ministry of Works and BACA govern building and heritage consent.
We work in this tension daily: with Bahraini-licensed architects and structural engineers, with Ministry of Works permitting and BACA heritage consultants, and with the lifestyle expectations of Bahrain clients between Saar and Janabiya inland villas, Riffa Views golf-course estates, Amwaj Islands, Durrat Al Bahrain and Reef Island waterfront residences, Diplomatic Area penthouses, and Adliya heritage estates. Our role is the plant and outdoor lifestyle layer – ecological substrate, Arabian-Gulf curation, and the wellness elements (majlis terrace, outdoor kitchen, shaded pergola, pool deck) that turn a Manama rooftop into a year-round sanctuary.

Our Manama approach
Curated plants, ecological substrate, lifestyle integration
- Symbiosis methodology – mycorrhizal partnerships, effective microorganisms and humus building replace chemical fertilisation under extreme heat and saline-water stress.
- Arabian-Gulf palette – date palm and Phoenix specimens, heat-tolerant evergreens (oleander, bougainvillea, hibiscus, jasmine), Arabian succulents (Agave, Aloe, Yucca, Dracaena, Adenium), shaded foliage under pergola, traditional Gulf garden plants.
- Wellness architecture – majlis terrace, shaded pergola, outdoor kitchen and pool deck integration with Gulf or skyline framing.
- Climate-aware execution – Bahraini-licensed architects and structural engineers, Ministry of Works permitting, BACA heritage consultation, sandstorm-resistant detailing, irrigation engineered for saline groundwater.
Areas we serve

How a Manama project unfolds
From first conversation to handover
- 01
Understanding before drawing
Site visit (or detailed remote survey for first conversations from Berlin), discussion of majlis rhythm, early constraint mapping (Ministry of Works, BACA, structure, extreme heat).
- 02
Concept and curation
A small set of plant compositions, material moodboards, majlis and wellness element placement. Always optionality.
- 03
Engineering and approvals
Load calculations with Bahraini-licensed structural engineer (BSE), Ministry of Works building consent, BACA review for Muharraq UNESCO interventions.
- 04
Installation and handover
Our team installs on site over one to several weeks, ideally outside July–September peak summer. Plants are sourced from Gulf nurseries and pre-conditioned for Bahraini heat. After handover we offer ongoing care subscriptions following the same symbiosis methodology.
