Rooftop Terrace Design · Monaco
From Monte Carlo to Fontvieille
Berlin-based manufactory delivering rooftop terrace concepts to Monaco's most discerning penthouses, with plant design, outdoor kitchens and wellness architecture under one curatorial hand.
Why Monaco is different
Mediterranean sun, sea salt, and the smallest footprints in Europe
Monaco is a paradox: a Mediterranean climate that opens one of the richest plant palettes in Europe, sitting on the tightest, most vertical real estate in the world. Every square metre matters. Salt-laden sea air corrodes substandard materials. Mistral wind events test every planting. And the silhouette of the Principality is protected with the same care as a Haussmann boulevard.
We work in this tension daily: with Monegasque architects who understand vertical density, with the Direction de l’Aménagement Urbain consent process, and with the lifestyle expectations of residents who divide their time between Monte Carlo, Megayachts and properties across the Riviera. Our role is the plant and outdoor lifestyle layer – ecological substrate, Mediterranean curation, and the wellness elements (spa, outdoor kitchen, sauna) that turn a penthouse roof into a year-round sanctuary above the sea.
Our Monaco approach
Curated plants, ecological substrate, lifestyle integration
- Symbiosis methodology – mycorrhizal partnerships, effective microorganisms and humus building replace chemical fertilisation. Critical near sensitive marine environments.
- Mediterranean palette – evergreen structure (olive, citrus, holm oak, cypress), aromatic accents (lavender, rosemary, jasmine, myrtle), sculptural specimens (Phoenix, agave, bougainvillea).
- Wellness architecture – spa, sauna and outdoor kitchen integration on tight Monaco geometries. Acoustic privacy through living screens.
- Regulation-aware execution – load calculations with structural engineers, building consent through the Direction de l’Aménagement Urbain, salt- and wind-resilient material specification.
Areas we serve
Across the Principality and the French Riviera
Most of our Monaco work is concentrated in penthouse residences and select hospitality locations. We also extend along the Riviera for clients with multiple properties.
How a Monaco project unfolds
From first conversation to handover
- 01
Understanding before drawing
Site visit (or detailed remote survey for first conversations from Berlin), discussion of the people and rhythm using the terrace, early constraint mapping (sun path, salt exposure, mistral, structure).
- 02
Concept and curation
A small set of plant compositions, material moodboards, wellness element placement. Always optionality – never a single take-it-or-leave-it.
- 03
Engineering and consent
Load calculations with structural engineer, building consent through the Direction de l’Aménagement Urbain where required, coordination with the building’s architect and interior designer.
- 04
Installation and handover
Our team installs on site over one to several weeks, depending on complexity. Plants are pre-conditioned in our Berlin nursery and regional Mediterranean nurseries. After handover we offer ongoing care subscriptions following the same symbiosis methodology.
Frequently asked
What clients usually want to know first
- Do you work on rooftop terrace projects in Monaco?
- Yes. Most of our Monaco work is penthouse residences in Monte Carlo, Larvotto and Fontvieille, with extensions across the French Riviera. Yacht-adjacent residential projects are handled with the same curatorial logic.
- How do you handle the Mediterranean climate?
- With a curated Mediterranean palette, salt- and wind-resilient material specification, and irrigation engineered for the Riviera’s dry summers.
- How long does a typical Monaco project take?
- Between three and ten months from first conversation to handover. Larger residences with wellness architecture often need six to twelve months of planning.

The first call is unhurried – understanding before any concept. We travel from Berlin for site visits when the project warrants it.
