Mykonos rooftop terrace at golden hour with curated Aegean planting and Cycladic sea view

Why Mykonos is different

Cycladic light, meltemi wind, and the discipline of white

Mykonos rooftops sit on a rocky Cycladic island under one of the brightest skies in the Mediterranean. Very hot dry summers, intense UV doubled by reflection off white-washed Cycladic walls and the Aegean sea, strong meltemi winds that sweep for days, salt spray on every coast-facing site, and freshwater so scarce that the island relies on water transport in summer. Cycladic architectural preservation rules are strict – white walls, blue domes, no large modern volumes visible from the sea.

We work with this discipline daily: with TEE-registered Greek architects and structural engineers, with Cycladic heritage consultants, and with the lifestyle expectations of clients between Aleomandra clifftop villas, Tourlos sea-view residences and Chora-edge cycladic estates. Our role is the plant and outdoor lifestyle layer – ecological substrate, Cycladic curation, and the wellness elements (pool deck, outdoor kitchen, spa) that turn a Mykonos rooftop into a year-round sanctuary above the Aegean.

Our Mykonos approach

Curated plants, ecological substrate, lifestyle integration

  • Symbiosis methodology – mycorrhizal partnerships dramatically reduce water demand and replace chemical fertilisation in the Cycladic climate.
  • Cycladic plant palette – evergreen structure (olive, fig, carob, kermes oak), Aegean aromatics (lavender, rosemary, thyme, oregano, sage), sculptural drought-tolerant specimens (agave, prickly pear, Phoenix, bougainvillea), traditional Greek garden elements.
  • Wellness architecture – pool deck, spa and outdoor kitchen integration with white-washed courtyards and meltemi-sheltered seating.
  • Heritage-aware execution – TEE-registered Greek architects and structural engineers, Cycladic heritage consultation, salt- and meltemi-resilient material specification.

Areas we serve

Across Mykonos and the wider Cyclades

Most of our Mykonos work is concentrated in clifftop villas, sea-view residences and Chora-edge cycladic estates. We also handle select hospitality projects across the islands.

How a Mykonos project unfolds

From first conversation to handover

  1. 01

    Understanding before drawing

Site visit (or detailed remote survey for first conversations from Berlin), discussion of the people and rhythm using the terrace, early constraint mapping (heat, meltemi, salt, water).

  2. 02

    Concept and curation

A small set of plant compositions, material moodboards, wellness element placement. Always optionality.

  3. 03

    Engineering and consent

Load calculations with structural engineer, TEE-registered architectural sign-off, Cycladic heritage consultation, coordination with the building's architect and interior designer.

  4. 04

    Installation and handover

Our team installs on site over one to several weeks. Plants are sourced from Greek and Mediterranean nurseries and pre-conditioned for the Aegean climate. After handover we offer ongoing care subscriptions following the same symbiosis methodology.

Frequently asked

What clients usually want to know first

Do you work on rooftop terrace projects in Mykonos?
Yes. Most of our Mykonos work is Aleomandra and Agios Lazaros clifftop villas, Tourlos sea-view residences, Psarou and Ornos beachfront houses, and Chora-edge cycladic estates.
How do you handle the meltemi and water scarcity?
With meltemi-resilient plant species and material specification, drought-adapted Cycladic palette, mycorrhizal soil partnerships that reduce water demand, and irrigation engineered for summer scarcity.
How long does a typical Mykonos project take?
Between three and ten months from first conversation to handover. Larger villas with wellness architecture often need six to twelve months of planning.
