Naples rooftop terrace at golden hour with curated Mediterranean planting and Vesuvius view

Why Naples is different

Vesuvian light, salt air, and the slow lyricism of the Bay

Naples is one of the most poetic rooftop cities in the Mediterranean. The Gulf, Vesuvius, the Phlegraean Fields and the Sorrentine peninsula set the panorama; the volcanic-soil terrace garden tradition sets the lifestyle baseline. Climate is hot-summer Mediterranean with long dry summers, mild humid winters, intense UV, salt-laden Tyrrhenian air and occasional sirocco. The Soprintendenza protects the UNESCO Historic Centre with rigorous heritage review.

We work in this tension daily: with Italian-licensed architects and structural engineers, with Soprintendenza-experienced heritage consultants, and with the lifestyle expectations of Naples clients between Posillipo clifftop terraces, Vomero panoramic rooftops, Chiaia and Mergellina palazzi, and Marechiaro villa estates. Our role is the plant and outdoor lifestyle layer – ecological substrate, Mediterranean-Campanian curation, and the wellness elements (loggia, outdoor kitchen, sunset terrace) that turn a Naples rooftop into a year-round sanctuary.

Our Naples approach

Curated plants, ecological substrate, lifestyle integration

  • Symbiosis methodology – mycorrhizal partnerships, effective microorganisms and humus building replace chemical fertilisation under Tyrrhenian summer drought and salt exposure.
  • Mediterranean-Campanian palette – structural specimens (citrus, olive, oleander), Mediterranean evergreens (myrtle, rosemary, lavender, lentisk), flowering accents (bougainvillea, plumbago, jasmine, hibiscus), salt-tolerant succulents, kitchen-garden plants.
  • Wellness architecture – loggia, sunset terrace, outdoor kitchen and pergola integration with Gulf or Vesuvius framing.
  • Heritage-aware execution – Italian-licensed architects and structural engineers, Soprintendenza consultation, SCIA/CILA permitting, salt-resistant detailing for coastal palazzi.

Areas we serve

How a Naples project unfolds

From first conversation to handover

  1. 01

    Understanding before drawing

Site visit (or detailed remote survey for first conversations from Berlin), discussion of the people and rhythm using the terrace, early constraint mapping (Soprintendenza, salt, structure, sirocco).

  2. 02

    Concept and curation

A small set of plant compositions, material moodboards, wellness element placement. Always optionality.

  3. 03

    Engineering and approvals

Load calculations with Italian-licensed structural engineer, Soprintendenza heritage consent for palazzo rooftops, SCIA/CILA through the Comune di Napoli.

  4. 04

    Installation and handover

Our team installs on site over one to several weeks. Plants are sourced from Italian and Campanian nurseries and pre-conditioned for the Neapolitan climate. After handover we offer ongoing care subscriptions following the same symbiosis methodology.

Frequently asked

What clients usually want to know first

Do you work on rooftop terrace projects in Naples?
Yes. Most of our Naples work is Posillipo, Marechiaro, Vomero, Chiaia and Mergellina.
How do you handle salt air and sirocco?
With salt-tolerant plant material, salt-resistant detailing on coastal palazzi, and engineered drainage that accounts for both intense summer drought and winter sirocco wind events.
How long does a typical Naples project take?
Between four and twelve months from first conversation to handover. Larger Posillipo or Marechiaro projects often need eight to fourteen months of planning.
