Rooftop Terrace Design · Riyadh
From the Diplomatic Quarter to Hittin
Berlin-based manufactory delivering rooftop terrace concepts to Riyadh's most discerning compound residences, villas and penthouses, with plant design, outdoor kitchens and wellness architecture under one curatorial hand.

Why Riyadh is different
Najd desert, RCRC discipline, and the rhythm of shade
Riyadh rooftops sit on the Najd plateau in a climate that pushes every detail to its envelope. Summer temperatures above 47°C, intense UV, low humidity, frequent dust events and scarce freshwater define the operating reality. A European plant palette has no place here – Riyadh demands a fundamentally different design logic built around shade architecture, microclimate and traditional outdoor rhythm.
We work with this discipline daily: with Saudi architects who handle Royal Commission for Riyadh City approvals, with irrigation specialists who design for desert water reality, and with the lifestyle expectations of Diplomatic Quarter and Hittin villa owners. Our role is the plant and outdoor lifestyle layer – ecological substrate, drought-adapted curation, and the wellness elements (pool deck, majlis, outdoor kitchen) that turn a Riyadh rooftop into a year-round sanctuary.

Our Riyadh approach
Curated plants, ecological substrate, lifestyle integration
- Symbiosis methodology – mycorrhizal partnerships dramatically reduce water demand and replace chemical fertilisation in the Saudi climate.
- Drought-adapted palette – native and Mediterranean accents (olive, date palm, neem, bougainvillea), drought-tolerant structure (Ficus nitida, Conocarpus, succulents) and shade-tolerant interior layers.
- Wellness architecture – pool deck, majlis, sauna and outdoor kitchen integration with shade pergolas, water features and microclimate cooling.
- Regulation-aware execution – load calculations with structural engineers, RCRC approvals where required, irrigation engineered for Saudi water reality.
Areas we serve
Across Riyadh's most exclusive districts
Most of our Riyadh work is concentrated in compound villas, district residences and high-rise penthouses. We also handle select hospitality projects.
How a Riyadh project unfolds
From first conversation to handover
- 01
Understanding before drawing
Site visit (or detailed remote survey for first conversations from Berlin), discussion of the people and rhythm using the rooftop, early constraint mapping (heat, sun path, dust, water).
- 02
Concept and curation
A small set of plant compositions, shade-architecture moodboards, wellness element placement. Always optionality.
- 03
Engineering and approvals
Load calculations with structural engineer, irrigation design, RCRC approvals where required, coordination with the building's architect and interior designer.
- 04
Installation and handover
Our team installs on site over one to several weeks. Plants are sourced from regional Gulf nurseries and pre-conditioned for the Saudi climate. After handover we offer ongoing care subscriptions following the same symbiosis methodology.
Frequently asked
What clients usually want to know first
- Do you work on rooftop terrace projects in Riyadh?
- Yes. Most of our Riyadh work is Diplomatic Quarter compound residences, Hittin and Al Nakheel villas, Al Olaya penthouses and KAFD residences.
- How do you handle the desert climate?
- With shade architecture, drought-adapted plant material, mycorrhizal soil partnerships that reduce water demand, and irrigation engineered for Saudi conditions.
- How long does a typical Riyadh project take?
- Between four and ten months from first conversation to handover. Larger Diplomatic Quarter villas with wellness architecture often need six to twelve months of planning.
