Rooftop Terrace Design · Seoul
From Gangnam to Pyeongchang-dong
Berlin-based manufactory delivering rooftop terrace concepts to Seoul's most discerning Gangnam penthouses and hillside estates, with plant design, outdoor kitchens and wellness architecture under one curatorial hand.

Why Seoul is different
Four-season climate, Korean garden tradition, and Hanok heritage
Seoul rooftops sit in a climate that demands four-season planning. Hot humid summers, cold dry winters frequently below -10°C, monsoon from June to September, occasional typhoon tails sweeping inland. Korean aesthetic culture sets a particular baseline – the Hanok village tradition in Bukchon and Seochon, the principles of borrowed view and seasonal restraint, the integration of stone, water and pine.
We work in this tension daily: with KASE-registered Korean architects and structural engineers, with permitting and heritage consultants, and with the lifestyle expectations of clients between Gangnam penthouses, Hannam-dong villas and Pyeongchang-dong hillside estates. Our role is the plant and outdoor lifestyle layer – ecological substrate, Korean-anchored curation, and the wellness elements (spa, sauna, outdoor kitchen) that turn a Seoul roof into a year-round sanctuary.

Our Seoul approach
Curated plants, ecological substrate, lifestyle integration
- Symbiosis methodology – mycorrhizal partnerships, effective microorganisms and humus building replace chemical fertilisation.
- Korean-anchored palette – evergreen structure (Korean fir, Japanese black pine, yew, holly), seasonal layers (Japanese maple, cherry, Korean azalea, grasses), shade-tolerant understorey (hostas, ferns, hellebore).
- Wellness architecture – spa, sauna and outdoor kitchen integration with Hanok-inspired stone and water elements.
- Regulation-aware execution – KASE-registered Korean architects, Seoul Metropolitan Government permitting, heritage consultation in Hanok villages.
Areas we serve
Across central Seoul and the hillside estates
Most of our Seoul work is concentrated in Gangnam penthouses, Hannam-dong embassy villas and hillside estates. We also handle select hospitality projects.
How a Seoul project unfolds
From first conversation to handover
- 01
Understanding before drawing
Site visit (or detailed remote survey for first conversations from Berlin), discussion of the people and rhythm using the terrace, early constraint mapping (winter exposure, monsoon, structure, heritage).
- 02
Concept and curation
A small set of plant compositions, material moodboards, wellness element placement. Always optionality.
- 03
Engineering and permitting
Load calculations with structural engineer, KASE-registered architectural sign-off, Seoul Metropolitan Government permitting, heritage consultation in Hanok villages.
- 04
Installation and handover
Our team installs on site over one to several weeks. Plants are sourced from Korean and Japanese nurseries and pre-conditioned for the climate. After handover we offer ongoing care subscriptions following the same symbiosis methodology.
Frequently asked
What clients usually want to know first
- Do you work on rooftop terrace projects in Seoul?
- Yes. Most of our Seoul work is Gangnam and Cheongdam penthouse residences, Hannam-dong and Itaewon embassy-row villas, and hillside estates in Pyeongchang-dong, Seongbuk-dong and Yeonhui-dong.
- How do you handle Korean winters?
- With cold-hardy plant material, frost-proof substrate composition, materials specified for freeze-thaw cycles and the Korean four-season aesthetic tradition.
- How long does a typical Seoul project take?
- Between four and ten months from first conversation to handover. Larger estates with wellness architecture often need six to twelve months of planning.

The first call is unhurried – understanding before any concept. We travel from Berlin for site visits when the project warrants it.
