Why Singapore is different

Tropical climate, BCA precision, and the City in a Garden

Singapore rooftops sit inside one of the world's most rigorous construction regulatory environments. Equatorial heat and humidity year-round, monsoon rain events that overwhelm undersized drainage, intense UV, and a building authority – the BCA – that holds every project to standards few cities match. At the same time, the tropical climate opens an extraordinary plant palette, and the "City in a Garden" national identity sets the cultural expectation.

We work in this tension daily: with Singapore-licensed Qualified Persons, with structural engineers and landscape architects, and with the lifestyle expectations of clients living in Districts 9, 10 and 11 and across Sentosa Cove. Our role is the plant and outdoor lifestyle layer – ecological substrate, tropical curation, and the wellness elements (spa, outdoor kitchen, sauna) that turn a Singapore roof into a year-round sanctuary.

Our Singapore approach

Curated plants, ecological substrate, lifestyle integration

  • Symbiosis methodology – mycorrhizal partnerships, effective microorganisms and humus building replace chemical fertilisation. Important under the high-rainfall regime that quickly leaches synthetic nutrients.
  • Tropical palette – foliage (Alocasia, Philodendron, Strelitzia, ferns), flowering accents (bougainvillea, frangipani, ixora, heliconia), structural specimens (Ficus, fan palms) and shade-tolerant understorey.
  • Wellness architecture – spa, sauna and outdoor kitchen integration with shade pergolas, water features and microclimate cooling.
  • BCA-aware execution – load calculations with structural engineers, BCA submissions via Qualified Persons, drainage and irrigation engineered for monsoon rain events.

Areas we serve

Across Singapore's most exclusive districts

How a Singapore project unfolds

From first conversation to handover

  1. 01

    Understanding before drawing

Site visit (or detailed remote survey for first conversations from Berlin), discussion of the people and rhythm using the terrace, early constraint mapping (sun path, monsoon drainage, salt exposure, structure).

  2. 02

    Concept and curation

A small set of plant compositions, material moodboards, wellness element placement. Always optionality – never a single take-it-or-leave-it.

  3. 03

    Engineering and submissions

Load calculations with structural engineer, BCA submissions via Qualified Persons, coordination with the building's architect and interior designer.

  4. 04

    Installation and handover

Our team installs on site over one to several weeks, depending on complexity. Plants are sourced from regional South-East Asian nurseries and pre-conditioned for the project's microclimate. After handover we offer ongoing care subscriptions following the same symbiosis methodology.

Frequently asked

What clients usually want to know first

Do you work on rooftop terrace projects in Singapore?
Yes. Most of our Singapore work is penthouse residences in Districts 9, 10 and 11, Sentosa Cove waterfront villas, and Good Class Bungalow rooftops in Bukit Timah and Nassim Road.
How do you handle the tropical climate?
With a tropical plant palette, drainage engineered for monsoon rain events, mycorrhizal soil partnerships that resist nutrient leaching, and shade architecture where required.
How long does a typical Singapore project take?
Between four and ten months from first conversation to handover. Larger Sentosa Cove villas and GCB rooftops with wellness architecture often need six to twelve months of planning.
