Stockholm rooftops sit at the meeting point of the Baltic and Lake Mälaren, in one of the most distinctive climates of any European capital. Long cold winters with deep snow, brilliant short summers, intense low-angle light, salt-laden archipelago air. Riksantikvarieämbetet protects significant portions of the inner city; Stadsbyggnadskontoret runs building permitting with Scandinavian rigour.
We work in this tension daily: with Swedish-licensed architects and structural engineers, with permitting and heritage consultants, and with the lifestyle expectations of Stockholm clients between Östermalm penthouses, Djurgården villas and Saltsjöbaden archipelago residences. Our role is the plant and outdoor lifestyle layer – ecological substrate, Nordic-anchored curation, and the wellness elements (spa, sauna, outdoor kitchen) that turn a Stockholm roof into a year-round sanctuary.

From first conversation to handover

Understanding before drawing
Site visit (or detailed remote survey for first conversations from Berlin), discussion of the people and rhythm using the terrace, early constraint mapping (winter exposure, snow load, heritage, structure).

Concept and curation
A small set of plant compositions, material moodboards, wellness element placement. Always optionality.

Engineering and permitting
Load calculations with Swedish-licensed structural engineer, Stadsbyggnadskontoret permitting, Riksantikvarieämbetet consultation in heritage zones.

Installation and handover
Our team installs on site over one to several weeks during the spring-summer window. Plants are sourced from Swedish and Nordic nurseries and pre-conditioned for the climate. After handover we offer ongoing care subscriptions following the same symbiosis methodology.
