Rooftop Terrace Design · Stuttgart
From Killesberg to Frauenkopf
Berlin-based manufactory delivering rooftop terrace concepts to Stuttgart's most discerning Halbhöhen-villa rooftops and inner-city penthouses, with plant design, outdoor kitchens and wellness architecture under one curatorial hand.

Why Stuttgart is different
Valley city, Halbhöhenlagen, and Schwabian precision
Stuttgart rooftops sit in one of Germany's most distinctive urban geographies – a city built into a valley, with the prestigious Halbhöhenlagen climbing the hillsides on every side. The climate is temperate continental, but the Stuttgart Kessel creates a particular microclimate with warmer summers and limited air exchange. Building consent runs through the Baden-Württembergische Landesbauordnung with rigour typical of Swabian engineering culture.
We work in this tension daily: with Tragwerksplaner registered in Baden-Württemberg, with architectural practices and Denkmalschutz consultants, and with the lifestyle expectations of clients shaped by the region's Mittelstand, automotive engineering and tech leadership. Our role is the plant and outdoor lifestyle layer – ecological substrate, hardy curation, and the wellness elements (spa, sauna, outdoor kitchen) that turn a Stuttgart roof into a year-round sanctuary.

Our Stuttgart approach
Curated plants, ecological substrate, lifestyle integration
- Symbiosis methodology – mycorrhizal partnerships, effective microorganisms and humus building replace chemical fertilisation.
- Hardy plant palette – evergreen structure (yew, boxwood, dwarf pine, holly), four-season layers (Japanese maple, hydrangea, witch hazel, grasses) and Mediterranean accents in south-facing microclimates.
- Wellness architecture – spa, sauna and outdoor kitchen integration with Halbhöhe view framing.
- Heritage-aware execution – Tragwerksplaner engineering, Denkmalschutz consultation in heritage zones, Bauantrag submissions where required.
Areas we serve
Across Stuttgart and the Halbhöhenlagen
Most of our Stuttgart work is concentrated in Halbhöhen-villa rooftops and inner-city penthouses. We also handle select hospitality projects.
How a Stuttgart project unfolds
From first conversation to handover
- 01
Understanding before drawing
Site visit (or detailed remote survey for first conversations from Berlin), discussion of the people and rhythm using the terrace, early constraint mapping (winter exposure, valley microclimate, structure).
- 02
Concept and curation
A small set of plant compositions, material moodboards, wellness element placement. Always optionality.
- 03
Engineering and consent
Load calculations with Tragwerksplaner, Denkmalschutz consultation in heritage zones, Bauantrag submissions where required, coordination with the building's architect and interior designer.
- 04
Installation and handover
Our team installs on site over one to several weeks. Plants are pre-conditioned in our Berlin nursery. After handover we offer ongoing care subscriptions following the same symbiosis methodology.
Frequently asked
What clients usually want to know first
- Do you work on rooftop terrace projects in Stuttgart?
- Yes. Most of our Stuttgart work is Halbhöhen-villa rooftops in Stuttgart-Nord, Killesberg, Frauenkopf and Sonnenberg, plus inner-city penthouses in Stuttgart-West and the Halbhöhenlagen.
- How do you handle the Stuttgart Kessel microclimate?
- With plant material specified for warmer summers and limited air exchange, irrigation design that handles humidity, and material choices that withstand sun-trapped Kessel conditions.
- How long does a typical Stuttgart project take?
- Between three and ten months from first conversation to handover. Larger Halbhöhen-villas with wellness architecture often need six to twelve months of planning.

The first call is unhurried – understanding before any concept. We travel from Berlin for site visits when the project warrants it.
