Rooftop Terrace Design · Taipei
From Tianmu to Yangmingshan
Berlin-based manufactory delivering rooftop terrace concepts to Taipei's most discerning Tianmu villas and Yangmingshan hillside estates, with plant design, outdoor kitchens and wellness architecture under one curatorial hand.

Why Taipei is different
Subtropical heat, typhoon code, and the Yangmingshan volcanic ridge
Taipei rooftops sit in a basin between the Tamsui River and the Yangmingshan volcanic ridge. Climate is humid subtropical: hot humid summers, mild winters, intense plum-rain season in May–June, typhoon season from June to October, and seismic design requirements that mirror Japan and Italy. Construction permitting runs through Taipei City Government with Taiwanese precision.
We work in this tension daily: with Taiwan-licensed structural engineers and architects, with Construction Management Office consultants, and with the lifestyle expectations of Taipei clients between Tianmu villas, Yangmingshan hillside estates, Da\'an/Xinyi penthouses and Neihu Bishan ridge homes. Our role is the plant and outdoor lifestyle layer – ecological substrate, subtropical-Taiwanese curation, and the wellness elements (spa, outdoor kitchen, hot-spring-inspired terrace) that turn a Taipei rooftop into a year-round sanctuary.

Our Taipei approach
Curated plants, ecological substrate, lifestyle integration
- Symbiosis methodology – mycorrhizal partnerships, effective microorganisms and humus building replace chemical fertilisation under the plum-rain regime.
- Subtropical-Taiwanese palette – evergreen structure (Japanese black pine, podocarpus, bamboo, holly), seasonal layers (Japanese maple, plum, cherry, wisteria), Taiwanese natives (cypress, formosa palm, taro), orchid and fern layers.
- Wellness architecture – spa, hot-spring-inspired terrace and outdoor kitchen integration with Yangmingshan and Taipei 101 framing.
- Seismic + typhoon-aware execution – Taiwan-licensed structural engineers, Taipei City Construction Management Office permitting, seismic and typhoon-rated structural review.
Areas we serve
Across Taipei and the Yangmingshan slopes
Most of our Taipei work is concentrated in Tianmu villas, Yangmingshan hillside estates and Da\'an/Xinyi penthouses. We also handle select hospitality projects.
How a Taipei project unfolds
From first conversation to handover
- 01
Understanding before drawing
Site visit (or detailed remote survey for first conversations from Berlin), discussion of the people and rhythm using the terrace, early constraint mapping (seismic, typhoon, plum rain, structure).
- 02
Concept and curation
A small set of plant compositions, material moodboards, wellness element placement. Always optionality.
- 03
Engineering and permitting
Load calculations with Taiwan-licensed structural engineer, Taipei City Construction Management Office permitting, seismic and typhoon-rated review.
- 04
Installation and handover
Our team installs on site over one to several weeks. Plants are sourced from Taiwanese and Japanese nurseries and pre-conditioned for the climate. After handover we offer ongoing care subscriptions following the same symbiosis methodology.
Frequently asked
What clients usually want to know first
- Do you work on rooftop terrace projects in Taipei?
- Yes. Most of our Taipei work is Tianmu villa rooftops, Yangmingshan hillside estates, Da\'an and Xinyi penthouses, Neihu Bishan ridge homes and Shilin/Beitou residences.
- How do you handle typhoon and seismic design?
- With Taiwan-licensed structural engineering for typhoon-rated and seismic loads, typhoon-rated planters and fixings, and plant material specified for the plum-rain envelope.
- How long does a typical Taipei project take?
- Between four and ten months from first conversation to handover. Larger Tianmu or Yangmingshan villas often need six to twelve months of planning.
