Rooftop Terrace Design · Hong Kong
From The Peak to Repulse Bay
Berlin-based manufactory delivering rooftop terrace concepts to Hong Kong's most discerning penthouses and hillside villas, with plant design, outdoor kitchens and wellness architecture under one curatorial hand.

Why Hong Kong is different
Subtropical heat, typhoon wind, and the vertical density of the Peak
Hong Kong rooftops sit on some of the most vertical real estate in the world. Subtropical humidity year-round, typhoon events that test every detail, intense UV, and the Buildings Department permitting regime that demands Authorised Persons sign off on structural changes. Each microclimate – The Peak ridge, Mid-Levels slope, Repulse Bay shore, Sai Kung coast – behaves differently.
We work in this tension daily: with HK-registered structural engineers, Authorised Persons and landscape architects who navigate the Buildings Department, and with the lifestyle expectations of clients living above the city. Our role is the plant and outdoor lifestyle layer – ecological substrate, subtropical curation, and the wellness elements (spa, outdoor kitchen, sauna) that turn a Hong Kong roof into a year-round sanctuary.

Our Hong Kong approach
Curated plants, ecological substrate, lifestyle integration
- Symbiosis methodology – mycorrhizal partnerships, effective microorganisms and humus building replace chemical fertilisation under the high-rainfall regime.
- Subtropical palette – foliage (Alocasia, Philodendron, ferns), flowering accents (bougainvillea, frangipani, hibiscus), structural specimens (Ficus, palms, Hong Kong orchid tree).
- Wellness architecture – spa, sauna and outdoor kitchen integration on tight rooftop geometries with harbour and South China Sea views.
- Typhoon-aware execution – HK-registered structural engineers, Buildings Department submissions via Authorised Persons, typhoon-rated planters and fixings.
Areas we serve
Across Hong Kong Island and the New Territories
Most of our Hong Kong work is concentrated in Peak and Mid-Levels penthouses, Southside villas and Sai Kung waterfront residences. We also handle select hospitality projects.
How a Hong Kong project unfolds
From first conversation to handover
- 01
Understanding before drawing
Site visit (or detailed remote survey for first conversations from Berlin), discussion of the people and rhythm using the terrace, early constraint mapping (typhoon, sun path, salt exposure, structure).
- 02
Concept and curation
A small set of plant compositions, material moodboards, wellness element placement. Always optionality.
- 03
Engineering and submissions
Load calculations with HK-registered structural engineer, Buildings Department submissions via Authorised Persons, coordination with the building's architect and interior designer.
- 04
Installation and handover
Our team installs on site over one to several weeks. Plants are sourced from regional South-East Asian nurseries and pre-conditioned for the project's microclimate. After handover we offer ongoing care subscriptions following the same symbiosis methodology.
Frequently asked
What clients usually want to know first
- Do you work on rooftop terrace projects in Hong Kong?
- Yes. Most of our Hong Kong work is penthouse residences and hillside villas across The Peak, Mid-Levels, Repulse Bay, Shek O, Stanley and Clear Water Bay.
- How do you handle typhoon and humidity?
- With typhoon-rated planters and fixings, Buildings Department approvals via Authorised Persons, and humidity-tolerant subtropical plant material.
- How long does a typical Hong Kong project take?
- Between four and ten months from first conversation to handover. Larger Peak and Repulse Bay villas often need six to twelve months of planning.

The first call is unhurried – understanding before any concept. We travel from Berlin for site visits when the project warrants it.
